Matilda

We saw Matilda in London last night, and it was thoroughly enjoyable! The cast was excellent (the kids – wow!), and Miss Trunchbull was simply unforgettable. A perfect embodiment of weird, insane brutality – but still funny. The music, the lyrics, the way the performance spilled out into the auditorium, the stage set, the choreography, all fabulous!

And it was a gorgeous evening. Warm and soft. We walked around Covent Garden, Leicester Square and China Town afterwards. Strolling leisurely – there hasn’t been many chances of doing that this year without risking hypothermia or exposure. It felt absolutely luxurious.

I still can’t stop thinking about Miss Trunchbull – what a tour de force! But the whole cast was great, and all-round acting, singing, dancing, wonderful.

It sort of helps that I was a bookworm as a child, and happily spent hours in the library.
