Potiche

I forgot to mention that we went to see Potiche – a feelgood film by François Ozon, set in the 1970s and very true to that aesthetic. Almost fetishistically so. Catherine Deneuve and Gerard Depardieu were excellent, and it was a funny, quite camp film with a sunny feministic theme.

We laughed a lot. And then there was a great VW ad which they played before the film, with a little kid dressed up as Darth Vader, trying to use the force (and not doing very well). His disappointment was touching and funny at the same time. He got a morale-boosting leg up from his parents in the end, with the help of the remote control for the car. Superb.
