Bus 9 to Utopia – David Bramwell’s new show

It has played a couple of weekends at the Earthship in Stanmer Park this festival, and we went last night. You took a bus from the Old Steine (obviously!), and we all went out together.

I loved the show. It is a one-man-show telling the story of David’s search for Utopia in various alternative communities, such as Christiania in Copenhagen, Findhorn in Scotland, Damanhur in Italy, Esalen Institute in California, and a couple of others that were certainly memorable, though I cannot recall the names right now.

David’s style is most engaging, and he switches effortlessly between different voices and characters, ever the raconteur. And it is a two-hour show, an absolute monster to keep up and going on your own. Not that we noticed – there were no dull moments, and lots of laughter. The finale is very funny, too. Highly recommended.
