Secrets

My work in performance and events has always been about creating fluid interfaces, where the importance of conventional boundaries and behaviors decreases.

The apparent privacy of the digital world allows people to act in the dark or behind an assumed identity. In my Secret Swap Shop (one of the ‘rooms’ at carinawestling.com), people can swap their own secrets for those of other people, and it contains a hoard of anonymous secrets.

We define and generalise features and people in the visible world that we share. It makes it easier to talk about between ourselves. Ourselves. Yourself. Who is that? Are you your gender or age? Does the heart ever grow old? And are you acting your age?
